Mr Pottinger was by a long stretch the most important influence on my educational course. 

He taught me Latin and Ancient Greek all the way to A level and i then studied Classics at University.

His sharp wit, kindness, erudition and intellectual curiosity were crucial to my self awareness and i am so sorry to hear of his death.
